The princess and pearls

This weekend saw an extravagant royal wedding, with Sweden’s Princess Victoria marrying her personal trainer, Daniel Westling.

It was a lavish affair with over 1,200 guests & dignitaries attending the occasion at Stockholm Cathedral.

The day had a modern stylish look with traditional elements weaved in. Oversized vases of powder blue hydrangeas lined the streets as the newslyweds travelled by carriage to the river to cross over to the palace via Royal barge.

The bride chose a simple but striking white off-shoulder dress and accessorised with the gold & pearl jewellery worn by her mother for her 1976 wedding. The clean lines of the dress worked perfectly with the jewellery, showing off the pearl laced tiara and bracelet. The trio of tiara, earrings and bracelet featured miniture cameos.

Get the look: We don’t all have a tiara passed down from Queen Sylvia, but you can achiece a similar style to Princess Victoria by combining a modern dress, with clean lines and minimal detailing, with a pair of pearl drop earrings and pearl necklace. Wear your hair in a red-carpet style chignon and finish with a Spanish lace veil to give dramatic effect as you walk down the aisle.
