This month, the pearls worn by Marilyn Monroe go on display in Bond Street, in their original case. The 16-inch cultured Akoya pearl necklace, consisting of a single strand of 44 pearls from Japan, gets its name from its one time owner Marilyn Monroe, the most beloved star in the history of Hollywood.
The necklace is now part of the valuable collection of pearls and pearl jewellery belonging to Mikimoto (America) Co, Ltd. and have recently returned the worldwide travelling exhibition, “Pearls – A Natural History”, sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History, New York. Two pearl necklace designs from Coleman Douglas Pearls were also exhibited in the exhibition, including a similar design to the one created especially for Kristin Scott Thomas.
As every pearl is unique, each akoya pearl necklace is selected individually to best suit the wearers colouring and figure. To choose your pearls, call 0207 373 3369 or visit our Knightsbridge store at 42 Beauchamp Place, SW3.
