Many of you will have seen the film ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring‘ released back in 2003, starring Scarlett Johansson, Colin Firth and Tom Wilkinson.
As you will recall, Colin Firth was the talented Dutch painter, Johannas Vermeer, commissioned to paint his servant Scarlett Johansson.
While painting his muse Firth realised that something was missing from the picture…

Throughout history we can see portraits of nobility and gentry wearing pearls.
One royal in particularly who was never without his pearl earring was King Charles I.
Yes he might not have been the best king but he certainly had style! inspiring a generation of men to wear similar pearl earrings.

But what is it about pearls that lures us in, capturing our hearts, making them such a prized gem?
Easy…they enhance their wearer, without outshining him or her!

This is achieved by light touching the pearl surface, being refracted around the many layers of nacre, before being reflected back out onto the wearer. The pearls look like they are glowing while giving you a soft up light…the best face lift ever!
